Dr. Yan Ling Liang, OD, FNORA, FCSO

Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation & Concussion Care

Dr. Yan Ling Liang graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and has been serving patients in Markham since 2012. With more than 18 years of experience in optometric care, she is passionate about helping patients of all ages achieve better visual function and improve their quality of life through personalized vision care.

Dr. Liang’s interest in neuro-optometry began with a child who had an eye turn and head tilt. Seeing how visual dysfunction could affect a child’s comfort, confidence, and daily life inspired her to pursue advanced training in neuro-optometric rehabilitation.

Dr. Yan Ling Liang is the first Canadian optometrist to hold fellowships in both Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation (FNORA) and Syntonic Optometric Phototherapy (FCSO).

Her clinical focus is neuro-optometric rehabilitation, concussion care, dizziness, migraines, visual-vestibular dysfunction, and circadian rhythm or sleep-related visual concerns.  She works with patients experiencing visual symptoms following concussion, acquired brain injury, viral illness and Long COVID, helping them improve visual function and regain confidence in their daily activities.

Her neuro-optometric rehabilitation services include assessment and treatment of binocular vision dysfunction, visual-vestibular integration, visual motion sensitivity, accommodative dysfunction, visual field deficits, and other visual problems that can affect balance, mobility, reading, screen use, and everyday function.

Dr. Liang also works with children and adults with binocular vision dysfunction, eye turns, amblyopia (“lazy eye”), learning-related visual difficulties, and challenges with sustained near work, reading, and screen use. She also works with athletes to develop and optimize visual skills that can enhance performance, reaction time, spatial awareness, and visual processing.
