Floaters are formed when the vitreous in your eyes begin to liquefy. This causes some small tissues to float around in your eyes. This process happens naturally as you age and does not cause harm to your vision.
However, there are some instances where the appearance of floaters may mean something more serious.
- A sudden increase in the number of floaters
- The Float becomes shadow-like.
- The sudden appearance of floaters after surgery or eye injury
These symptoms can indicate that there is damage at the back of the eye or at the retina, and that you should seek help from an optometrist immediately.
