My cousin has been enjoying soccer since he was a teen. Until recently, he got his soccer injury to the eye. The vision was down to 20/50 from 20/20 with correction. He drove to my office with the other good eye and we check to make sure there is no tears and holes resulted from the injury. He suffered from a little injury to his iris, causing a flare up or inflammation in the eye. It took a little more than ten days to resolve with some eye medications.
However, some others that suffered sports injury may not be as lucky. Please read on from last week's report from CBC news here.
In all sports such as soccer, basketball, more so in tennis, badminton and squash, eye protection is the best option for preventing that from happening. Sports goggles has a place for safety. The lenses utilised are strong enough to withstand the impact from the soccer, basketball, tennis ball and squash balls. Ask your Optometrist for high impact resistant lenses and sports goggles.
