Red Eyes: Red eyes could be caused by an infection, contact lens overwear, allergy, or inflammation related to certain types of arthritis. Just a bottle of Vision for red eyes is not the answer to the problem. The Visine red eye reliever may also cause rebounds! If you are not sure what is the cause of the red eye, best to see an Optometrist, ie. yours truly.
Itchy Eyes: Very likey allergic eyes! Allergic eyes could also cause the eyes to go red. Back in the days, you can just pick up Claritin eyedrops, but they don't make them anymore. You can get Opticrom over the counter. If that still doesn't help, call our office, we can book you in for a check up, and give you a prescription for doctor grade allergic eye drop. It can be used once a day to give your eyes the comfort that can carry you through the day.
Dry Eyes: Dry eyes drops are all over drug stores. But do you know what caused your dry eyes? Systane ultra sure does work to some extent, so feel free to pick it up from the drug store, no harms done. But if you read our November issue, you might remember it can be caused by contact lens overwear, wrong contact lenses, certain medications, overheating in the house/car that caused tears in the eyes to evaporate too fast. The best solution might be a combination of certain non-preservative eye drops, proper contact lens fitting and wearing schedule, blinking frequent for computer work, and perhaps certain change in diet. Our dry eye treatment solution is extensive. Call our office if you need real relief from your dry eyes.
