Laser Eye Surgery Toronto The holiday and the summer are usually a time when many people ask me about Laser eye surgery?
Should I do it? Why do/don't you do it? Which eye surgery is the best? When is the best time to do it? These are some of the frequently ask questions. The most critical question is if you should do it? The other one is which procedure is the best? The types of procedure out there today include PRK, LASIK, wavefront-guided LASIK, reLEX-SMILE, and ICL (implantable contact lens). What is best is irrelevant in this case. What is best for you is a better question that can be addressed. Aside from the few absolute contraindications such as glaucoma, retinal holes, keratoconus, there are relative contraindications or considerations such as your own eye power, amount of astigmatism, corneal thickness, keloid/scarring, amount of dry eyes, previous eye/lid surgeries, personality type, visual needs. To find out if you are a good candidate, and which procedure is best for you, ask your local Optometrist for a refractive surgery consult. You would get an independent opinion on which procedure is best for your eyes, which equipment, and/or which surgeon might work best with you. If you are myopic, or nearsighted, you would have been wearing minus (-) lenses. Those lenses minimizes the images you see out of them.
When you remove you glasses, or wear contact lenses, you would no longer see them minimized, so things look larger. The opposite is true for Hyperopia or farsightedness, with plus(+) lenses. You should adapt to them quite well, unless you switch between glasses and contact lenses too frequently. When in doubt, call your local contact lens fitter or Optometrist for details. Did you know that your contact lens is very convenient to help you see better without glasses?
Did you also know that it can cause harm if fitted incorrectly in size, power, material or curvature? In Ontario, the laws are there to protect the consumers when they buy contacts: they need a contact lens prescription from their Optometrist. But recently, there is an online company that disregard such protection for consumers in the United States. Read up here for the full story on how hubble contacts is harming the contact lens wearers. We learned that good old Leonardo Da Vinci had mirror writing, with his left hand.
It's actually quite common for children under age 8 to have mirror writing too. It has to do with eye dominance. Did you know that dyslexia is related to vision? Their eye dominance is usually developed by age 7-11 years old.. However, if it hasn't, then there is no differential treatment by the brain in picking the images out of both eyes past age 7. Sally:
I've been a patient at multiple optometry clinics before and I can say that Warden Optometry gives the best service. Over the past 3 years, I've gotten 3 routine eye examinations from Dr. Liang and each went very smoothly. She tells you exactly what she's doing and you get to learn new information during your examination. I recently decided to get contacts and she went through step-by-step on how to use and take care of them. She is very passionate about what she does and I would definitely recommend a visit to Warden Optometry!
