LASIK Consult includes all the tests done in a Comprehensive eye exam to assess the patient for candidacy for LASIK, PRK, SMILE or lens exchange.
The current eye power (prescription) and change is taken into consideration.
The risk of eye health such as diabetes in the eye and glaucoma are also taken into consideration.
The LASIK consult is offered as an independent opinion from the LASIK center to consider for refractive surgery.
It is provided for free when the patient comes in for the full comprehensive eye exam.
The right candidate would need to have best corrected vision that has been stable for 2 years, likely after school is completed.
If the vision is stable, your corneal health and retinal health would need to be assessed to minimize the surgery risk.
We would assess the right candidate for the follows risks,
Vision, for high myopia, or astigmatism,
Corneal thickness, for how much issue to work with, and keratoconus (thinning of the cornea),
Binocular vision, amblyopia (lazy eye),
Dilated fundus exam, fora glaucoma risk and retina health.
